Although “oily” would not be the best way to describe healthy skin, sometimes it is very essential. When your skin is oily, it looks greasy and shiny, with the next acne about to pop up. On the other side of the coin, having dry skin is also a big problem because it looks pale, flaky and irritated.
Be it as it may, oil is very important to your skin care regiment. Why else would you go to several lengths of locking your skin’s natural oils within? This is because oil maintains the youthfulness of your skin, keeps your skin moisturized and protects it against future damage amongst other things.
We have compiled a list of several essential oils that would do wonders for your skin without you worrying about greasiness or acne break outs.
Olive oil: If you thought olive oil was only good for preparing some dish from the Mediterranean diet pyramid, then I am sorry to tell you that you are wrong. Apparently this oil has been used for centuries as a skin protector. It is also considered a great skin moisturiser if used on its own. The lactic acid present gently exfoliates the skin and in the process aids in cell turnover.
Argan oil: A native of Morocco, this oil is perfect for maintaining a perfect skin complexion. It has a high concentration of fatty acids as well as lots of vitamin E, which acts as an anti-oxidant to protect and repair your skin. Because of its rarity, it is very expensive. And in case you come across a cheaper version, then it is not the real thing.
Marula Oil: Another African native, east and South Africa to be specific, the Marula oil has very high concentrations of anti-oxidants. The biggest benefit of this is the reversal of aging signs, which are caused by free radicals. The fatty acids in Marula oil act as a catalyst forpenetrating the skin very fast, leaving zero chances of clogging or greasiness.
Tea Tree oil:Considered to be very effective on acne, tea tree oil has a lot of antibacterialand antifungal potentials. Research has shown that only five per cent of this oil is as good for treating acne as five per cent benzoyl peroxide, minus the harshness. In addition to being good for sensitive skin, it repairs the skin naturally and can easily treat and soothe your skin.
Lavender oil: This oil is also very effective for treating acne, because it puts a halt to the bacteria that causes these infections. It can be used on aging and oil sensitive skin, and increases the elasticity of the skin as well.
Carrot seed oil: Just like the real carrots, carrot seed oil is full of beta-carotene, which is a powerful cancer fighting anti-oxidant. This oil also helps in reducing inflammation on dry skin and protects it from cancer-causing rays of the sun. This is why it is added to sunscreens.
Coconut oil: Other than being great for the hair, this oil is great for the skin as well. It is an amazing moisturiser as well as a deep conditioner for the skin. It also increases hydration to dry skin as well as speeding up healing of wounds.
