We try our best to look good and feel good. We make great efforts to keep ourselves healthy and fit whether its diet, exercise or any other thing but have you ever did some effort for your breasts? Breast cancer is the most common condition associated with breasts and here we will discuss some tips that can help you lower the risks of breast cancer.

Avoid gaining excess weight:

Obesity increases the risks of breast cancer at the time of life when breast cancer often occurs. So, avoid gaining weight as this will help you reduce chances of breast cancer. It is recommended to maintain your body mass index under 25.

Eat healthy food:

Add healthy food in your diet, this will also help you in maintaining weight. Cut down the sugar, carbohydrates and fat and add fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet rather. Eat whole grains, and lean protein like fish and chicken. Avoid using animal fats and instead use vegetable oils.

Be physically active:

Researches prove that even if you start physical activities later in life, breast cancer risk will be reduced about 10 to 30 percent. All you need to do to be physical active is moderate exercise and 30 minute walk.

Don’t smoke and avoid drinking alcohol:

Research suggests that alcohol and long term smoking is one of the reasons of increased risk of breast cancer in some women. So, limit the intake of alcohol and smoking if you want to prevent breast cancer.

Get regular breast cancer screenings:

It is possible to treat breast cancer if detected in early stages and breast screening is important for breast cancer detection. Breast cancer screening becomes more important if you are at higher risk of breast cancer because of strong family history or if you have had benign breast disease in past. For some women, ultrasound and MRI screening can add valuable information to regular mammogram screening.

Breast-feed as long as possible:

Women who breastfeed their children have reduced risk of developing breast cancer, so, if you have children, breast-feed them as long as possible.

Avoid hormone replacement therapy:

Some women go for hormone replacement therapy to manage menopausal symptoms that increases the risk of breast cancer. So, if you must have to take hormones, avoid or limit the use of the ones that contain progesterone.

Above given are some of the tips that are helpful reducing the risks of breast cancer but it is also recommended to see your general practitioner regularly.
