FAQs

Acne Scar Treatment

Which Acne Scar Treatment is Best for Me?

We offer numerous professional acne scar treatments to help you get rid of embarrassing acne scars. These include microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermal fillers and fractional CO2 lasers. All these are really effective but determining which treatment will be best for you is the job of your dermatologist.

We have some internationally recognized, board-certified skin specialist who will help you find out the best course of treatment for you, but only after assessing your skin type and nature of acne scars.

Fractional CO2 Lasers are considered as the best treatment for acne scars but your doctor may combine it with other treatments to achieve maximum results in minimum time.

Can I Get Acne Scar Treatment while Still Having Active Acne?

To get the most out of your acne scar treatment, it is always advised to first get the active acne under control. Treating active acne is important because presence of acne scars on your face shows that you have a skin type that is prone to scarring.

If acne is not controlled, new acne breakouts can cause new scars, thus ruining your and your dermatologist’s all scar removal efforts.

I Have Darker Skin. Is Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Right for Me?

An ideal candidate for laser therapy is the one with fair complexion. However, with advancement in technology, now we have laser advanced systems that also work best on dark skin tones.

To make sure that you get the most out of the treatment without suffering from any side effects, like skin burn, your doctor may prescribe you some topical skin lightening cream to apply on treatment areas for 3 to 4 weeks before proceeding with Fractional CO2 treatment.

We offer a number of non-invasive, non surgical anti aging treatments to help our valued customers restore their youthful appearance without going under the knife.

Which Anti-Aging Treatment Will be Best For Me?

All of the above stated anti-aging treatments are really effective, but their efficacy varies from person to person, depending on an individual’s skin type, nature of problem and severity of symptoms.

It is your physician’s job to determine which treatment will be right for you, and he can do so only after physically examining your condition. Sometimes a combination of two or more treatments is also used to achieve the desired results more effectively and quickly.

Having that said, Laser Skin Resurfacing has been rated by the patients as well as the doctors as the best anti-aging treatment.

Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Safe For Me?

Laser Skin Resurfacing is one of the safest anti-aging treatments available in this age of technology.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have also approved lasers for treating aging signs and symptoms, like facial wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven skin tone and texture, age spots etc. When performed by an experienced dermatologist or a classified laser expert, the treatment rarely causes any side effects or complications.

However, getting the procedure done in a salon by some inexperienced beautician or untrained nurse practitioner can cause some serious side effects, such as skin burns and hyper-pigmentation.

Sometimes, in suspected skin cancers, if the removal is incomplete, the procedure may have to be repeated for the complete removal.

Is There Any Side Effects?

The undesirable side effects are resultant scarring, possibility of recurrence, and sometimes keloid (raised, thick scar) formation. Though it is unpredictable that how a particular scar will heal, most of the scars heal well, without leaving a noticeable mark.

Most of these procedures are done under local anesthesia in an office setting, requiring practically no time of work. Pain is also a very slight requiring mild analgesics.

  • In Septoplasty, which is performed on the patient with a deviated septum, the crooked septum is straightened through incisions inside the nose.
  • In standard Rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside the nostrils. The nasal bones, cartilage, and soft tissues are reshaped to improve the external contour.
  • In open Rhinoplasty, which is frequently used for difficult or larger noses, one external incision is made across the columella (strut between the nostrils). Bones, cartilage and soft tissues are reshaped under direct vision.
  • In tip-plasty, which is done when only the tip is abnormal, either a standard or external approach is used to modify the shape.

Hair Transplant

What is Hair Transplantation?

It is a surgical procedure in which healthy hair are taken out from a certain area of the body and transplanted into the balding or bald areas. This hair then continues to grow throughout the lifetime of the person being treated giving him or her a much more youthful look.

Will My New Hair Give a Natural Look?

Yes. This is because your new hair comes from your own body so that they are the same colour and texture as your original hair. Moreover, as we will use the latest FUE technique to ensure that no one can detect you had a hair transplant even when you wear your hair short. There will be no pluggy look or visible scarring that resulted from older methods.

What is more, you will be able to wash, comb, colour, shave and do any anything you did with your original hair.

Will the Results Achieved With My Hair Transplant be Permanent?

Yes. You can enjoy your new hair and look for the rest of your life. This is because we will take your new hair from an area of your body where they are genetically programmed to be permanent. This area is called the “donor area”. Usually it is the back and the sides of your scalp. Once transplanted, these hairs will continue to grow and re-grow in a normal fashion for the rest of your life.

Since the hair taken from the donor area is not sensitive to balding, they continue to grow in the new area where they are transplanted.

When Will My New Hair Start to Grow?

The hair growth process after a hair transplant typically starts about 3 months after the procedure. The final results will however become visible from 8 to 12 months after the procedure.

Is Hair Transplant Surgery Painful?

There is very little, if any, discomfort in the hair restoration process as it is done under local anesthesia. We deliver anesthesia quite painlessly. We also offer our patients a pill for relaxation; many patients feel just fine though even without a pill.

Will My Donor Area Suffer a Significant & Visible Loss of Hair after Surgery?

No. This is ensured because the hair in the donor area is usually quite dense. Moreover, we harvest hair from your donor area in a very planned and strategic manner using our expertise in Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) which ensures that your donor area is least affected.

How Many Sessions Does a Hair Transplant Typically Require?

For normal cases most hair transplants average between one and three sessions. The number of sessions will depend upon the density of existing hair present in the balding area and the density desired.

How Many Grafts can be Done in a Single HT Procedure?

In a single HT procedure, as many as 3000 grafts can be performed. However, 2200 or so grafts will do for most patients as they neither require nor desire more.

Why to Choose Hair Transplant?

Hair transplant surgery is currently the only way to restore your natural hair. It is one of the best permanent treatments for hair loss and balding.

The risks of the newer hair transplantation procedures are the lowest, and the maintenance after the hair transplant is often minimal as compared to other hair loss treatment options.

Finally, the costs involved are relatively fixed and a one-time cost. Other options like hair loss medications, lotions, ointments, treatments, hairpieces, etc often become an ongoing liability, and are definitely without the splendid results that a hair transplant can deliver.

Many women who experience problem with the proper dress feel much better after the procedure as they find most of the dresses fitting and they are at ease socially.

We offer numerous professional acne scar treatments to help you get rid of embarrassing acne scars. These include microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermal fillers and fractional CO2 lasers.

Birthmarks

What Birthmark Removal Options Do You Have?

At Dubai Cosmetic Surgery, we offer numerous surgical and non-surgical birth mark removal procedures.

  1. Laser Birthmark Removal is the most effective treatment used for elimination of irksome congenital nevi. We offer lasers for treating all types of birthmarks, including moles, vascular pigmentation and hemangiomas. We also treat port-wine stains.
  2. Intense Pulsed Light therapy is another really effective birth mark removal procedure offered by DCS. It is similar to laser treatment, with the only difference being wavelength and intensity of light used for treatment.

Which Laser Do You Use for Birthmark Removal?

We use FDA approved latest laser systems for birthmark removal. These include:

  • Q-Switch – When using Q-Switch lasers for birthmark removal, the practitioner makes the laser beam incident on the nevi. Laser beams switch on and off automatically and this way destroy the accumulated melanin by delivering the right amount of energy. According to a latest research, Q-Switch lasers can result in dramatic reduction of birthmarks, and complete removal in over 80% cases.
  • Alexandrite laser – This type of laser works by damaging and destroying hyperactive melanocytes – cells responsible for production of melanin, a naturally occurring pigment that adds color to your hair and skin. Alexandrite works by breaking the concentrated pigment into microscopic particles. These tiny particles are then flushed out of the body by its immune system. Alexandrite lasers have shown dramatic results in birthmark removal.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Number of sessions required for complete birthmark removal varies from person to person depending on the type of birthmark and the laser system used. Pigmented birthmarks usually disappear completely after 3 to 6 treatments, whereas vascular birthmarks often take 8 to 12 sessions to fade away.

Fat Injection – Fat Transfer FAQ’s

Fat Injection Candidate?

With advancing age, in adequate amount of fat in the face or other regions of the body, there is lack of youthfulness or balance. Both of these can be corrected with a relatively safe procedure of fat transfer.

Procedure Description

How Long does Surgery Takes?

It entirely depends upon the extent of the area to be contoured. A minor facial contouring may take only half an hour or so, while a larger body area for example. Buttocks or legs may require up to two hours.

With any surgical procedure there are possible complications. However, with this procedure, the common complications are swelling, bruising asymmetry and contour irregularities which can be easily corrected at a later date. Major complications with a large fat transfer are similar to a liposuction procedure.

Anti Aging

What Options Do You Have for Anti Aging Treatment?

We offer a number of non-invasive, non surgical anti aging treatments to help our valued customers restore their youthful appearance without going under the knife.

All of these procedures offer lasting effects. For all those seeking an instant fix, we also offer injectables like Dermal Fillers and Botox injections.

Many women who experience problem with the proper dress feel much better after the procedure as they find most of the dresses fitting and they are at ease socially.

The initial pain and swelling will subside in four to five days, then a week of restricted activity followed by no strenuous exercise for another 10 days to two weeks.

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, local anesthesia with sedation, regional anesthesia or general anesthesia and depending upon the extent of the area to be contoured, the required amount of fat is harvested with a metal tube (canula), processed and transferred to the target area with a small needle or canula.

How Long does Surgery Takes?

It entirely depends upon the extent of the area to be contoured. A minor facial contouring may take only half an hour or so, while a larger body area for example. Buttocks or legs may require up to two hours.

What is the Recovery Time?

Again, it depends upon the extent of the area to be contoured.

Time Off From Work

How Long the Result Lasts?

With all the advantages of a fat transfer, one of the concerns is the unpredictability of the result. Sometimes more than one treatment is required to get the optimum contouring. However, no loss of fat is noticed for a period of six months or longer then the results may last a few years.

Is It Painful?

As with other aspects of the procedure it depends upon the extent, and volume of the fact being transferred. A minor correction is practically pain-free, but a major transfer will have some degree of pain, which is easily treated with pain medication.

Fat Injection Complications?

With any surgical procedure there are possible complications. However, with this procedure, the common complications are swelling, bruising asymmetry and contour irregularities which can be easily corrected at a later date. Major complications with a large fat transfer are similar to a liposuction procedure.

Mole Removal

Mole Removal Info

At times some of the moles need to be removed. The reason may be cosmetic, or a suspicion that a particular mole may be a skin cancer. Other than taking a wider margin around the mole in cases of suspected skin cancer the procedure is essentially the same.

Procedure Description

A local anesthetic agent is injected around the mole and the lesion (mole ) is surgically removed. The wound is then closed with sutures. It is advisable to send the specimen (mole) for pathological examination to know the exact nature of the lesion.

  • If a complex fracture or dislocation is present, a more formal operation may be required to solve the problems.
